Member Statistics

Snapshot of a “typical” Mothers & More member:

  • Between 31 and 35 years old
  • Married
  • Has two children ages 5 and under
  • Well educated
    • 86% have college degrees
    • 35% have a Masters, Ph.D. or other professional degree

Paid and Unpaid Workplace Participation

  • 55% of our members are full-time at-home mothers who do not currently work for pay
  • 29% work part-time (1-34 hours a week) for pay
  • 6% work full-time (35 or more hours a week) for pay
  • 10% do paid work on a sporadic/seasonal/project basis.

Of those not currently working for pay, 75% said yes when asked if they plan to return to work in the future. Regardless of their current paid work status, 94% of members said they feel they have altered their career path since becoming/as a result of becoming a mother.

Of those who have altered their career paths since becoming mothers, 55.2% left full time paid work to undertake full time unpaid caregiving work, 21% left full time paid work for part time paid work and 4% took an extended leave and then returned to their previous full time paid work.

The above information was compiled from a member survey conducted in the Fall of 2004.
