13 Things About Farzaneh “Fari” Fouladi Bearman

  1. How long have you been a Mothers & More Member? I joined Mothers & More in August 2009. I remember thinking, am I crazy for joining a mom’s group?
  2. Where do you live and what chapter do you belong to? Currently, I live in Newport, RI but I belong to Summerville, SC Chapte 15. I like to think of myself as a gypsy, caravanning across the country without an idea of where I might end up next. My husband, however, likes to think of us as an adventurous Naval family who dutifully accept the assignments of the United States Navy and forge ahead serving our country from one port city to another. So far, I’ve lived in Summerville, Newport News, Charleston, Norfolk, and Washington D.C. I grew up in Fort Lauderdale, but was born in Tehran, Iran and very, very briefly lived in Germany before moving to the States. In case you were wondering, yes, I am an American!
  3. I have a blog called “Don’t Eat All the Food: The Misadventures of Majestic Tulip, The Not–So–Naval Officer’s Wife.” – http://donteatallthefood.wordpress.com.
  4. I have met several famous people. I used to be part of several student political organizations and as a freshman in college, I accidently ran over Sen. John McCain’s foot while aimlessly walking around the Senate building in DC. My favorite story is when my family and I serendipitously ran into Shaquille O’Neil at Orlando’s Mall of Milleau. My cousin, who was visiting from Iran, asked me to shout out in English that “Iranians love Shaq” and so I did. In the midst of trying to get rid of adoring fans at the mall, he looked at me and sighed, “Thanks!” (If you are reading this Shaq, it’s true; Iranians around the world love you).
  5. As you can see from the name of my blog I love food and constantly need to remind myself not to eat ALL the food, with that said I really can’t stand goat cheese. I have tried and pretended to like it, and even smiled politely when I unknowingly bite into a goat cheese product. I don’t like the taste. I also don’t like liver. Oh, I can’t eat MSG–laden Chinese food or else I am sent to the hospital with a terrible allergic reaction.
  6. If I were invisible, I would pull down everyone’s pants, and then run away. Somehow I feel this will help me cope with the stresses of being a mother, wife, and daughter.
  7. My favorite word, well, it’s a curse word. It starts with an F and rhymes with duck. Though, my pretty little daughter loves to play parrot so I have learned to substitute that word with dang!
  8. My least favorite word? Fail. I don’t like the word. I feel like I hit a dead end with that word.
  9. Next to my daughter’s laughter, I am mesmerized by the sound of waves crashing onto the shore. It’s incredibly calming, hypnotizing, and inviting.
  10. A noise that drives me crazy is when a rude person smacks their chewing gum. It makes me want to slap that person in the face. But, I am not a violent person so I just fantasize about it.
  11. Currently, my profession is a stay at home mom, or domestic engineer as it has been recently coined. I have wanted to return to the world of non-profit administration, which is the field I worked in before I was married. Secretly I dream to be a sketch comedy writer. (I love you Tina Fey!)
  12. While I admire the brave men and women who clean our cities as sanitation workers, I do not think I have the guts to do their job.
  13. I really believe in the Mothers & More organization and want to contribute to the organization any way I can.
