I am a member [I am participating in an event (specify) sponsored by] Mothers & More, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of mothers through support, education and advocacy. Our 2005 Mother’s Day Campaign - Mothers: The Real Story, It's About Time, encourages mothers to talk openly and honestly with each other about their real life experiences as mothers. We want to spotlight that all mothers do unpaid work caring for their families that takes time to perform and has real social and economic value. We also want to identify common challenges mothers face as we spend time caring for our families.

We have planned many activities for our Mother’s Day Campaign, and I’d like to invite you to visit our campaign website at www.mothersandmore.org to look over the activities and campaign event. You might find an event in your area! One of our major activities is a collective web log where members of our organization will document the time spent taking care of their families, the unpredictability of that time, the invisibility of it, the fragmentation of it, and the way it changes our lives after we become mothers.

From April 18 and May 30, I will be participating in the Mothers & More 2005 Campaign Mother’s Day Campaign "Mothers - The Real Story: It's About Time." by sending out Mothers & More’s downloadable Mother’s Day Cards. To spread the word, I will wear a T-shirt sporting the slogan "Mothers. The Real Story. It's About Time." which is also available on our website.

By talking openly and honestly about our real stories we will empower each other and educate the public that taking care of families is real work that takes real time. It's about time that we come together to tell our stories loud and clear - that we insist on more options for individuals to fit the time to care into their lives, insist that the responsibility to spend time caring for families be treated as a responsibility we all share individually and together. Together mothers are powerful!
